I was so surprised by the south end of 9th Avenue Trail when I was flying today that I just had to take a walk along it and find out what it looked like from the ground. It was VERY distinctive from the air.

Some people have been making terrific improvements to the trail by first brushing, then scraping the ground to make a wider trail and then surfacing the trail with finer white channel gravel (which is why it looks so distintive from the air).

I applaud the efforts of those who are making these improvements. Well done! It will be terrific if the entire trail can be completed in that manner.

The trail improvements are being carried out by your very own local Klondike Active Transport & Trails Society (KATTS), with assistance from a very energetic Y2C2 crew and a CDF grant that allowed us to hire a crew of local youth for the summer. Our goal for this summer is to have the trail upgraded as far as the Mary McLeod Rd. and eventually go all the way to the slide. Once complete the trail will connect with the dyke to create a circuit trail around the community.

I congratulate you and your crew for the magnificent job on the 9th Avenue Trail. The Grand Opening Event today was wonderful!

Next time I fly, I'll try to get some aerial shots.

Thanks Stephen. Glad you could make it to our little event on the weekend. The trail crew is deservedly proud of the work they did this year. Hopefully more to come next year.

The trail system is looking really good. I've taken a few rides on it and it's really enjoyable for me and my family. I think more communities need to build trail systems to encourage more physical activity while also preserving our wildlife.
