Dawson Wins CBC Song Quest

Kim Barlow to compose song

A few months ago CBC Radio 2 initiated a Canada wide song writing contest in two parts.

Representatives from each province and territory pitched notable locations or features unique to their region and songwriters who could potentially compose a song about it were also listed.

Listeners from across the nation voted after having heard from the composers and enthusiasts waxing poetic about their favourite place and why they thought it song worthy.

Dawson was promoted on national radio by then mayor, John Steins who did his best to illustrate why Dawson should be chosen over the other Yukon candidates.

The Yukon has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to musical talent. Kim Barlow is a Yukoner who has made a name for herself in the national and international music world.
