This festival can be marked as another notch in the organizer’s gun-belt. The 31st version of a Yukon tradition has come and gone along with a plethora of musicians, hangers-on and revelers.

Of course lots of cash was left behind to help bolster Dawson’s economy on the biggest weekend of the year.

Among the musical highlights of the event one would have to be The Persuasions who performed a stellar show at the Palace Grand Theatre that rocked the place and practically brought the house down.

Their thunderous encore involved individual members of the audience singing a cappella as the group doo wopped in the background.

Other acts included Luke Doucet, Mother Mother . Whitehorse act Crash the Car certainly stood their ground as a very talented group worthy of main stage time.

Although Dawson seems like it’s under siege during the weekend residents could take comfort in the fact that an extra detail of RCMP was patrolling the streets, dyke and back alleys on bicycles and all terrain vehicles.

Regretfully, the festival attracts young people whose only mission is to party and be inebriated at all times with little interest in the festival itself.
